As the national standardisation institution in South Africa, the SABS is mandated to develop and maintain South African National Standards (SANS) and promote quality in connection with commodities, products and services.
All our locally manufactured threads bear the SABS 1362 stamp of approval and we adhere to strict specifications to ensure that no carcinogenic or harmful chemicals are used during the production of our products.

OEKO-TEX®
The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 —Textile Certification for Safety, Compliance, and Peace of Mind
Sewing thread is used in clothing, furniture and other items that come into contact with the skin, so it is important to ensure that the thread used in these items contains no harmful substances.
To give our customers complete peace of mind, all our imported embroidery- and specialist threads are OEKO-TEX® certified, which means the materials that are used in the production of these sewing threads are submitted for testing with the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 system.
OEKO-TEX is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production and the label is there to reassure consumers that the materials contain no harmful substances and that they have been sustainably produced in accordance with OEKO-TEX® guidelines.
